The gas is compressed through a reciprocating compressor, single or double acting; Equipped with cylinders (where the inlet gas is compressed up to distribution pressure) easily adjustable to any suction pressure and capacity needs. The crankcase, filled with lubricating oil, is geometrically separated from gas side (cylinders) via two seal groups by wich possible leakages are deviated in vent line. The unit is also equipped with forced lubrication circuit and cooling circuit; The latter can be either made by air or liquid. Compressor drive can be achieved either through direct coupling or through "V" belts. The speed of compressor driver (electric motor) can be regulated through inverter to immediately adequate compressor capacity to the required values.
Before being put on the market, the large-capacity 300 Series compressors with single-or double-acting cylinders were operationally tested for a long period in the station at Traversetolo. The testing, which goes on for an unlimited time at constant maximum rotation speed, is extremely tough, because it alternates intermittent service typical of filling stations with constant delivery required to fill up cylinder and tank trucks. During operation, the suction pressure may be calibrated in the field of 5-11 barG, the entry temperature may vary between-6 and 10 & ordm; C, the delivery pressure may be set in the field of 60-250 barG. Consequently, the flow rates vary between 45 and 100% of the nominal flow and the absorbed power ranges between 70 and 100% of the nominal one.
The architecture of the 3 non-lubricated cylinders is a W-type arrangement at 60 & ordm; Whose pistons are driven by a cross-head assembly. The crank mechanism is pressure-lubricated by oil. The maximum nominal power is 250 kW and the maximum nominal flow rate is 4, 200 Sm & sup3; / h.
